GYARU-ABLE: Atelier Fix Design

Ever since I discovered the brand Atelier Fix Design (and sister brand Duck Farm), thanks to Natsumi's blog post listing western gyaruable brands, I've been obsessed with collecting every piece I can match to my current wardrobe! 💜

🦋 Brand: Atelier Fix Design (formerly Fixdesign)
🦋 Country: Italy
🦋 Active: no

Fixdesign was founded in 2004 by Gianmarco Maggiulli and became a full-fledged fashion house in 2006, rebranded as Atelier Fix Design. The brand is very himekaji and Liz Lisa coded to the point where I wonder if they weren't a direct inspiration. The best part? As a premium brand, the cut and fabric of the pieces is amazing. Cashmere, wool, 100% cotton... all at super cheap prices since the brand went out of fashion.

Nails: September '22

Hello gals! Today I want to share with you my new nails. As I've mentioned before, I usually can't have super long nails as I am a musician, but I find this length perfect to play and feel gyaru at the same time ✨

I went to my regular salon in my city and got my usual acrylic refill because it is the only way I don't end up biting the crap out of them. Even though he used the tip technique he was super careful with application and making the nails as thin and natural as possible and they feel gorgeous 💜

As you know already I always do my own decorations! This time I got some silicone moulds from Aliexpress to make my own nail charms! 😱💜 I used some gel nail polish to fill and cure them and it didn't turn out too bad, although I think next time I'd like to try with builder gel or similar! Nails are the one thing that make me feel extra gal and I'm really happy with how they turned out!

Hope you enjoyed this little post and thank you for reading.

xx Shin

OOTM: March coordinates!

Hello! How have you all been? The world has gone crazy, I really hope everyone is managing to stay safe in these harsh times. I have found gyaru to be one of my rays of sunshine during quarantine - I am super grateful for the energy that the community is giving me, with Instagram Lives, challenges and other activities going on. I thought I should start sharing my coords on this blog, so here are some of the looks I have worn recently!

1) My Favourite Tiara
I found this skirt in Mercari and just had to hunt down every colourway. They are definitely my current favourite item in my wardrobe 💜

Spring-Summer 2019 Haul: Alba Rosa, Liz Lisa & More!

Hello gals! I wanted to share my latest haul from Mercari, Fril Japan and some local thrift stores!

I am obsessed with the old school ganguro look from the 90s at the moment, especially the sleeveless top + pencil skirt silhouette, paired with platforms. I have started collecting anything and everything with tropical, hibiscus, or banana leaf prints, with bright colours like teal and yellow, but especially all shades of orange, from corals to burnt orange, as I'm loving its warm contrast with my tanned skin.

You and Me Japan Review: Liz Lisa Floral Skirt

Hello gals!

Today I would like to share my experience with the second hand JFashion online store You and Me Japan (@youandmejapan on Instagram).
You and Me Japan sells second hand Liz Lisa and Swankiss items for a reasonable price. They have a very small selection of items but I think they stock prints that I haven't easily found in eBay stores for example. I had originally ordered this skirt through Mercari, but the transaction fell through, so I decided to test this store instead!

Gyaru-able: Mustang Spring-Summer Collection 2019

Hello gals! I am starting off my new blogging era with a new series, Gyaru-able! Since gyaru is first and foremost about making the latest trends your own, I believe, as other veteran gal do, that with the correct makeup and styling skills you do not need a full wardrobe of Japanese brand to be able to be gyaru. In this series I will feature gyaru-able items from European or Western brands that you might have not known before, which are easier to get hold of for us outside of Japan <3

Today I want to show you the new Spring-Summer collection from Mustang, a Spanish footwear and accessories brand that is known for being super trendy. Their new collection features tropical, hibiscus, and other summery prints which I think are sooooo gyaruable! Mustang is also a Maid in Spain brand, so you will be supporting local business and craftspeople.

Blog Revival! My Journey as a Gal

Hello gals, and welcome to a gyaru revival of my blog!

You might know of me from Instagram (@majisuka.shin) where I share my coords and looks. I thought it would be fun to revive this little blog and explain how I got into gyaru! <3

What is gyaru?

Gyaru is a Japanese street fashion that originated among school girls in the early 90s, dominating fashion trends during nearly two decades. A rebellion against traditional Japanese beauty standards and expectations regarding how women must behave, gyaru are easily recognisable due to their celebration of tanned skin, bleached hair and a loud, wild, confident attitude. Through the years, gyaru has evolved and branched out into very different substyles.

Neojaponisme has a three part, really interesting article on the birth and evolution of the gyaru.

Hime Hime Star describes the history and substyles of gyaru in a brilliant in-depth series on her YouTube channel, with the collaboration of other gaijing gyaru around the world. It is a must watch for any girl interested in the style.
